Accession Number Transfer

Accession number is a unique identifier assigned to, and achieving initial control of, each acquisition. Assignment of accession numbers typically occurs at the point of accessioning or cataloging. Accession Number transfer helps to transfer the library media within the departments.

Inputs Needed

  • Library configuration should be defined.
  • Library media should be configured.
  • Accession Number should be assigned to the library media.

Terminology Used

  1. Accession Number - Accession number is a unique identifier assigned to, and achieving initial control of, each acquisition.
  2. Library Media - Library Media refers to all the print and digital media available in the library.
  3. Barcode Prefix - Prefix is a unique identification number that helps to identify the library media.

Functionality

  • System allows the functionality to transfer accession number from a particular department to some different department.
  • This helps in creating sufficient availability of books or any other library media for students from different departments.
  • In order to transfer accession number, from one department to another, there are certain steps which are to be followed:
  1. From the above path, select the appropriate Library name.
  2. Select the department name from which the library media needs to be transferred.
  3. Select the appropriate library media such as books, journals / magazines, CD, DVD, from the drop down which needs to be transferred.
  4. Search for the media title. If the barcode configuration needs to be applied to the transferred department then tick the checkbox against it.
  5. Select the depart to which the accession number needs to be transferred and click on transfer button.

Once these steps are followed the selected accession number will be transferred to the target department.
