Open Defense Request Approval by HOD

'Open Defense' is conducted in order to evaluate the student with respect to his

  1. Basic subject knowledge
  2. Knowledge of the subject matter of the thesis
  3. Clarity of self-expression
  4. Defense of his/her own work.
  • After the thesis has been recommended by the experts as per the regulation,the candidate shall be invited to defend his thesis in presence of Guide,ChairPerson/HOD and External Experts (Referee) in open defense.
  • As per the Thesis and Defense of candidate thesis evaluation will be done on the basis of specific Parameters.

  • Candidate Open Defense request must be raised by Guide

Terminologies Used

  • Guide : Guide shall mean a member of the academic staff of the University/Constituent Unit, who HOD/supervise the research work of the candidate.
  • HOD : Head of the Department
  • Chairperson : Chair person is HOD or Senior faculty who will examine candidate Open Defense.
  • Dean : The head of a university faculty or department.
  • Referee : A referee is someone who has been given the responsibility of evaluating the suitability of thesis and the candidate for the award of PG and Ph.d.

1) Approve Open Defense Request by HOD

  • After requesting for Open defense of Candidate by Guide,it will be Sent to HOD for approval.
  • HOD can approve and assign him/her self or Other HOD as a chairperson.After approval of chairperson candidate open defense will be arranged with suitable notice which will be open for all.
  • If HOD allocate him/her self as Chairperson,open defense request will be considered as approved and notice will be sent for Candidate Open defense.
